Who can take Acomplia?

Acomplia is recommended as an adjunct to diet and exercise courses for the treatment of obesity (BMI
30 kg/m2), or overweight (BMI > 27 kg/m2) that also associate the risks of type II diabetes or dyslipidaemia (high cholesterol levels)

Who cannot take Acomplia?

* patients with severe hepatic impairment
* patients with severe renal impairment
* children below age 18 (due to a lack of data on efficacy and safety)
* Breast feeding mothers
* Anyone over 75 years old
* patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption, should not take Acomplia because it contains lactose
* patients with uncontrolled serious psychiatric illness such as a major depression.
* Acomplia should only be used when such illnesses are controlled and set a course of treatment
* patients taking antidepressant medication are recommended to not use Acomplia because of little data on the interaction between these drugs and Acomplia
* patients with recent myocardial infarction, stroke, failure, etc
